NGPG does not require a referral, but some insurance plans do. Check with your provider to see if a referral or preauthorization is needed for coverage.
Not necessarily. Your provider will assess your condition and may order imaging like X-rays or an MRI. Surgery is only recommended if other treatments, such as medication or physical therapy, are not the best option.
Surgery may be recommended if other treatments don’t relieve your symptoms. If you experience any of the following, a surgical consultation may be beneficial:
- Ongoing pain, stiffness, or discomfort affecting daily activities
- Chronic joint pain lasting more than 12 weeks
- Limited range of motion
- Instability while walking or standing
