NGPG expanding access to women’s cancer services in Gainesville

Facing cancer is overwhelming enough without the added stress of deciding where to go for care or who to turn to for answers. Fortunately for women in north Georgia, Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Gynecologic Oncology is making that choice easier by welcoming Chanhee Han, MD, who learned and trained at top medical schools and leading cancer centers across the United States, to its practice in Gainesville.

“As a woman, I believe I can offer a deeper understanding and support to my patients during their most challenging times,” Dr. Han said. “While medicine is rooted in science, there are many moments of uncertainty. In those times, I focus on what is truly best for my patients, just as I would for my own loved ones, ensuring compassionate and thoughtful care.”

Dr. Han provides comprehensive care for women diagnosed with ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers. Her experience in advanced surgical techniques including minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic procedures – combined with chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and access to clinical trials – enables her to handle complex cases.

Dr. Han earned her medical degree from Dankook University in South Korea. She went on to complete a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Catholic Medical Center in South Korea, as well as at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York. She also completed several fellowships including gynecologic oncology at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital in South Korea; epidemiology at MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas; advanced pelvic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta; and obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.

Chelsea Chandler, MD, a fellow gynecologic oncologist at NGPG, is excited to have another talented physician joining her to care for more people across the region.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Han to our team,” Dr. Chandler said. “Her expertise, dedication and compassionate approach to patient care makes her a perfect fit for NGPG. I have no doubt she will profoundly impact the lives of our patients and the community.”

Beyond her medical work, Dr. Han finds joy in spending time with her family and dogs, exploring scenic trails and discovering new restaurants.
