Urogynecology, which is focused on diagnosing and treating pelvic floor disorders, addresses conditions that millions of women face but rarely discuss. That life-changing care is now available to women across northeast Georgia, as Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) recently added two new board-certified urogynecologists to help close a critical gap in care across the region.
Sana Ansari, MD, and Jennifer Lanzer, MD, have joined Jason Bailey, MD, at NGPG’s urogynecology practice to expand access to specialized care for women in Gainesville, Dahlonega, Buford and the surrounding areas. They are already providing expert care to women who need help managing conditions like urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, bladder dysfunction and endometriosis.
“I’ve cared for women in this region for decades, and there simply have not been enough physicians focused on urogynecology to treat those who need help,” said Dr. Bailey. “Dr. Ansari and Dr. Lanzer are both exceptionally skilled, and they’re equally passionate about improving women’s health. With their expertise and the advanced tools we have, including robotic surgery, we can restore the health, confidence, and quality of life for even more women.”
Dr. Ansari, who is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, followed by a fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at The Christ Hospital – University of Cincinnati.
“I discovered this specialty in medical school and immediately fell in love, because it allows me to offer compassionate care and treatment to women who are dealing with painful and sometimes embarrassing conditions,” said Dr. Ansari. “Being a urogynecologist has taken me across the nation to care for patients, and I am excited to bring specialized care to women in Dahlonega, Gainesville and the surrounding areas.”
Dr. Lanzer, who is also board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology as well as Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, received her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She went on to complete a residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Magee, Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
“I was very fortunate to grow up in a medical family. My grandfather was an internist in the Atlanta area with my grandmother running the front office, and my mom was a labor and delivery nurse,” said Dr. Lanzer, who will practice at NGPG locations in Gainesville and Buford. “Caring for others was instilled in me at a very young age, along with an early passion for women’s health. As a urogynecologist, I’m always happy reassure my patients that what they’re experiencing is treatable, and they don’t have to live with these conditions.”
Pelvic health should never be ignored. NGPG’s urogynecology specialists provide advanced diagnostic and treatment options, including minimally invasive robotic surgery, pelvic floor therapy, and innovative treatments for bladder dysfunction and pelvic pain. Robotic-assisted procedures allow for greater precision, faster recovery times, and less discomfort for patients.
