People who need complex or simple surgery on their hand, wrist, elbow, or shoulder can turn to an expert, fellowship-trained surgeon who’s returned to Georgia. Travis Patterson, MD, joined Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine and is now seeing patients in Gainesville and Dawsonville.

“I grew up in Forsyth County, so I am excited to get back home and serve this community,” said Dr. Patterson. “It’s great to be close to relatives, the lake and a short drive to Athens for UGA games. Our family loves being on the water and cheering on the Dawgs.”

Dr. Patterson earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also completed his orthopedic residency. He further honed his expertise with a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Brown University. His specific areas of interest include fracture and joint injuries of the hand and upper extremities, sports injuries, arthroplasty and shoulder conditions.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Patterson to our team,” said Kevin Matson, vice president of Regional Hospitals. “He should be the go-to expert for anyone who lives along the Georgia 400 corridor – from Cumming to Dawsonville, to Dahlonega and all the places between – who need hand, wrist, elbow or shoulder surgery.”

Outside the operating room, Dr. Patterson enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children. His hobbies include salt and freshwater fishing, woodworking, home restoration/renovation projects and competitive sports.
